Jagua Powder - Freeze-Dried Ready-Mix Jagua Powder (Genipa Americana powder). For the 1st time, you can now make your own Jagua paste mix recipe by adding water and essential oil (See suggested mixing instructions below).
1oz. of powder yields about 3.5oz. of Paste
Premixed jagua powder
Ingredients: Superfine freeze-dried organic Genipa Americana fruit juice, Non-GMO Xanthan Gum, Organic Cane Sugar.
The reason for adding these two other components was to avoid the problem of the powder getting clumps while mixing and painting with it and to provide a better paste flow while drawing.
Our powders come in vacuum sealed packaging and can be stored at room temperature with an extended shelf-life of up to one year! But we highly recommend to store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.
Pure jagua powder
Ingredients:Pure superfine freeze-dried organic Genipa Americana Fruit Juice,
Our jagua powder is 100% pure Genipa Americana fruit. All-organic freeze-dried in our facilities with NO additives.
What does this mean? Well, it means you are open to experimentation!
Pure Jagua powder is mainly used for Body Art but can also be used for fabric dyeing, soap making, candles and of course you can mix your own Hengua mix by mixing it both with our pure Henna Powder.

Using more accurate ingredients measurements (ratios system):
Essential Oil (Lavender, Cajeput or Eucalyptus oil)
Add the Jagua powder to a glass mixing bowl
Add water, one tablespoon at a time. Stir between each tablespoon of water
Add your essential oil – Make sure you use top quality essential oil
You may use less than 8 tbsps. of water if your preferred consistency requires less water. Just note that if you add more than 8tbsps. of water to your paste, it will take longer than 30 minutes to dry.
If you live in a dry heat climate, adding ½tbsp-3/4tbsp of sugar may be needed. You may want to add sugar to help the paste take longer to dry, ensuring it does not flake off too quickly.
Once all the ingredients are in the bowl, mix vigorously, then let it sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, stir once more to make sure all lumps are gone. That’s it, now put the paste in a cone or a bottle and start inking. Store unused paste in a freezer until next usage. This recipe yields approximately 4 oz. / 115g of paste.
Suggested mixing instructions for Hengua using Jagua powder
Lavender essential oil or Cajeput oil
½ tbsp. (*optional)
*Only needed in dry heat climate. Do not add if you live in a very humid area.
First, add both powders to a glass mixing bowl.
Add water, one tablespoon at a time, stirring between each tablespoon of water. You may use less than 8 tbsps. of water if your preferred consistency requires less. Just note that if you add more than 8 tbsps., your paste will take longer than 30 minutes to dry.
Add your essential oil - Make sure you use top quality essential oil.
If you live in a dry heat climate, adding ½ tbsp-3/4tbsp of sugar may be needed.
Once all ingredients are in the bowl, mix vigorously, then let it sit 12-24 hours (Depending on how long it typically takes for your henna dye to be released. When combing Henna and Jagua, there is no accurate spot test like there is when you make your Henna paste. So, it is helpful to know how long it normally takes for your henna to release its dye). After 12-24 hours, stir once more to make sure all lumps are gone. Strain your paste through stalking. Then put the paste in cone or bottle and apply. Store unused paste in a freezer until next usage. This recipe yields approximately 4 oz. / 115g of paste.
Note you can also make Hengua by mixing equal parts of already made Jagua paste and already dye released Henna paste.
