At Fresh Jagua, we proudly provide 100% natural,Pasteurized Gel and other chemical-free jagua products—made directly from the fruit, with no preservatives, no additives, and no artificial nonsense. That’s the heart of who we are. Our customers know they’re getting a pure, high-quality product every time.
And because it’s natural, how you store your jagua matters a lot for getting the best results.
Why Storage Matters for Natural Jagua
Our Jagua Juice Ink, gels, and powders are extracted and produced in our facility in Hollywood, Florida. They're crafted fresh and immediately frozen to preserve quality. Whether you're using Jagua Gel, Jagua Juice Ink, or our signature powders—including our NEW customer-favorite Hengua Powder—proper storage helps retain potency and staining power.
The Right Way to Store Jagua Products
Freezer = Long-Term Storage
Here’s how long our natural products will last in the freezer:
Product | Freezer Life | Fridge Life After Thawing | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Jagua Gel | 6 months | 30 days | Freeze in small batches |
Jagua Juice Ink (a.k.a. Liquid) | 6 months | 30 days | Same as gel |
Jagua Powder | 12 months | N/A (mix when needed) | Keep in airtight bag |
Hengua Powder | 6 months | 30 days | Store in freezer, sealed |
Henna | Up to 3-4 years | 1-6 days | No stable after mixing. |
💡 Pro Tip: Always order enough for the next 3 months—not a full year. Some customers report great stains after a year in the freezer, but for consistently excellent results, stick with fresher batches.
Fridge = Short-Term Use
Once you thaw your Jagua Gel, Jagua Juice Ink, or Hengua Powder, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 30 days. After that, the product will slowly begin to oxidize and lose its staining power.
Best practice:
-
Divide your jagua Juice Ink or Gel into smaller bottles or cones
-
Freeze what you won’t need right away
-
Only thaw what you plan to use in the next 2–4 weeks
What Happens If You Freeze and Thaw Multiple Times?
Each time jagua is taken out and refrozen, it absorbs moisture from the air. This introduces ice crystals, which eventually melt into water—weakening the consistency and stain quality of your gel or ink.
So while you can freeze again, we strongly advise against repeated thawing and freezing. It’s better to plan ahead and portion your supply.
How to Tell If Your Jagua Is Still Good
Fresh jagua changes color naturally over time. When first extracted, it’s:
-
Milky white (only we see it :) )
-
Turns green
-
Then blue
-
Then black
-
Eventually brown
If your jagua is green, blue, or black—it’s still fresh. Brown color indicates oxidation, and you’ll likely get a weak stain. Always smell and check the consistency as well.
✅ Green or Blue = Excellent
⚠️ Brown = Time to replace
Final Thoughts
Even after 15 years in the jagua world, we’ve seen products last well beyond the recommended time. But if you want consistent, bold stains—and happy clients—follow these storage guidelines. Remember, this is a natural fruit-based product, not a synthetic paste. Treat it like fresh food, and it will perform at its best.
