Ingredients

Tablespoons

ounces

Jagua Powder

3tbs

.9 oz.

Water

8tbs

75g

2.5 oz.

Essential Oil (Lavender, Cajeput or Eucalyptus oil)

½tbs

4g

.2 oz.

Mixing Instructions:

  1. Add the Jagua powder to a glass mixing bowl
  2. Add water, one tablespoon at a time. Stir between each tablespoon of water
  3. Add your essential oil – Make sure you use top quality essential oil

You may use less than 8 tbsps. of water if your preferred consistency requires less water. Just note that if you add more than 8tbsps. of water to your paste, it will take longer than 30 minutes to dry.

If you live in dry heat climate, adding ½tbsp-3/4tbsp of sugar may be needed. You may want to add sugar to help the paste take longer to dry, ensuring it does not flake off too quickly.

Once all the ingredients are in the bowl, mix vigorously, then let it sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, stir once more to make sure all lumps are gone. That’s it, now put the paste in a cone or a bottle and start inking. Store unused paste in a freezer until next usage. This recipe yields approximately 4 oz. / 115g of paste.

Suggested mixing instructions for Hengua using Jagua powder

Jagua Powder

1½ tbsps.

Henna Powder

1½ tbsps.

Water

8 tbsps.

Lavender essential oil or Cajeput oil

½ tbsp.

Sugar

½ tbsp. (*optional)

*Only needed in dry heat climate. Do not add if you live in a very humid area.

  1. First, add both powders to a glass mixing bowl.
  2. Add water, one tablespoon at a time, stirring between each tablespoon of water. You may use less than 8 tbsps. of water if your preferred consistency requires less. Just note that if you add more than 8 tbsps., your paste will take longer than 30 minutes to dry.
  3. Add your essential oil - Make sure you use top quality essential oil.
  4. If you live in dry heat climate, adding ½ tbsp-3/4tbsp of sugar may be needed.
  5. Once all ingredients are in the bowl, mix vigorously, then let it sit 12-24 hours (Depending on how long it typically takes for your henna dye to be released. When combing Henna and Jagua, there is no accurate spot test like there is when you make your Henna paste. So, it is helpful to know how long it normally takes for your henna to release its dye). After 12-24 hours, stir once more to make sure all lumps are gone. Strain your paste through a stalking. Then put the paste in cone or bottle and apply. Store unused paste in a freezer until next usage. This recipe yields approximately 4 oz. / 115g of paste.

Note you can also make Hengua by mixing equal parts of already made Jagua paste and already dye released Henna paste.

Jagua Ready-Mix Powder Application & Care Instructions:

  1. Apply your Jagua ready mix.
  2. It should take about 30 minutes to dry.
  3. For maximum dark and long lasting stain results, leave the paste on for a minimum of 1 to 4 hours.
  4. For Jagua paste mix, remove the dry paste underrunning soapy water.
  5. Now Relax :) at this stage, the stain should look pale and blurry. During the next 12 to 48 hours, your new tattoo will develop and reach its final stain color after 72 hours.

  • To preserve your stain, apply a thin layer of natural oil such as; Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, beeswax or chap-stick to your stain before any exposure to water.
  • There should be minimal exposure to pool’s chlorine, bathing, Steam rooms, Bikram (Hot)Yoga or Jacuzzi.
  • Avoid rubbing, scratching or scrubbing of any kind on the tattoo area.

For Henguamix, it’s recommended that you remove paste by flaking it off the skin. It takes 24-48 hours for your Henna stain to fully mature. Avoid contact with water during this time.
